Early this year, TELUS commissioned IDC to conduct a study which examined the current state of IoT deployments in Canada.  It discovered that although adoption of the technology is currently limited to leading edge companies like CommandWear, IoT solutions are on the verge of rapid growth, with spending in Canada predicted to grow to $21billion dollars by 2018.

Less than 6 months later, TELUS launched the TELUS IoT Marketplace, an online partner network offering turn-key IoT solutions from cutting-edge innovators and industry-leading technology companies.

TELUS selected CommandWear as one of ~20 partner companies to include in its launch, featuring two CommandWear IoT solutions for Security and Lone Worker sectors:

Team members who work in remote locations can take comfort in knowing they are not alone. CommandWear offers a wearable solution that displays a remote worker’s real-time status coordinates and geographic locations, while allowing them to respond quickly to notifications and commands received from the base station.

Situational awareness is critical to response teams who need to keep their eyes, ears and hands on the job at all times. CommandWear is a cloud-based situational awareness platform that integrates smartphones, wearable devices and tablets to allow public safety and security agencies to easily see where their teams are and communicate with them in real-time.

According to CEO and Founder Michael Morrow, “We are excited to be part of the TELUS IoT Marketplace.  This new partner network  gives solution providers like CommandWear access to TELUS’ customers and team, streamlines how we deliver our solutions (through an App Store) and simplifies the billing and fulfillment options available to customers.   The innovation of our IoT applications combined with TELUS’ proven networks, data management solutions and devices provides a more robust and reliable suite of solutions for public safety and security organizations across Canada.  It’s a great partnership.”

CommandWear will continue to add new IoT solutions to TELUS IoT Marketplace that integrate smartphones, wearable devices, tablets, networks and applications to enhance situational awareness for first responders who need to keep their eyes, ears and hands on the job at all times.    We’ll keep you posted!
