CommandWear successfully piloted it’s situational awareness product with a joint Police/Fire-Rescue/Ambulance operations command in which Paramedics from San Diego Fire-Rescue Department and Rural Metro Ambulance Service were deployed using Pebble Smartwatches connected to the CommandWear system in the 2015 Mardi Gras Event held on March 17. San Diego Fire Rescue found CommandWear provides high-value benefits and can be contacted through CommandWear.
The Mardi Gras Celebration and Parade is the largest Big Easy parade on the west coast. The sixteen blocks within the venue takes over all of 5th Avenue from Broadway to Harbor and featured 5 stages along and adjacent to 5th Avenue. It is estimated that about 15,000 people attended the event.
The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department (SDFRD) is responsible for providing Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for the Mardi Gras. The SDFRD has been looking for a solution and after reviewing CommandWear’s capabilities, set up a pilot during Mardi Gras. CommandWear supplied it’s “6 Pack” situational awareness solution, a complete mobile package including wearables and licenses in a small, convenient, easily shippable package.
