CommandWear and Smartwatches

CommandWear has developed a companion smartwatch app for its smartphone app (Communicator).  The smartwatch app is currently written for Android Wear 2.0 compatible smartwatches.  Other smartwatches, such as Apple Watch and Samsung Gear S3, can be used with Communicator but with limited functions (e.g. message notification and acknowledgement only).

Note: Help for the Android Wear 2.0 app called “Responder Watch” is being updated at this time.  Please check back March 1, 2018 or contact CommandWear for Help loading and using the smartwatch app.

CommandWear has also developed an app for the Pebble smartwatch.  Pebble has since been acquired by Fitbit and the watch is no longer manufactured; therefore, the app has become unsupported.  However, we’re happy to share the Online Help with you in case you have a Pebble Watch.

CommandWear and Pebble

CommandWear chose the Pebble smartwatch as our first wearable. The reasons we chose Pebble were:

  • Long battery life;
  • Visible in direct sunlight, backlit at night;
  • Rugged; and,
  • Waterproof to 5 ATM.

Starting Pebble Communicator on your Smartwatch

  • If CommandWear’s Communicator app is not running on your Smartwatch, click the middle right button to get a list of applications

  • Scroll down through the list of applications until you see the CommandWear app. If it is not there, see the Installing CommandWear on your Pebble section below.
