Pebble today announced their Pebble Time, a new smartwatch, building on the success of the Pebble and Pebble Steel.

What does it mean to CommandWear, the first Pebble app designed for first responders?

There are several things we really like in this announcement.

  • Battery Life: Pebble is staying true to one of their key strengths, battery life, which we feel is one of the most important things for first responders. Being able to run the watch for days lets first responders count on their smartwatch to be their when they need it.
  • Colour: Using an eInk colour display will make the smartwatch even easier to read at a glance.
  • Microphone:  We are looking forward to the ability to send a voice message without having to take your phone out of your pocket.
  • Buttons: The buttons are still there. For first responders wearing gloves, the ability to use a button is a huge advantage. Many of our paramedic users tell us they love the ability to click on the button while wearing rubber gloves on duty.
  • Gorilla Glass: The Pebble Time comes with gorilla glass, which is great when you are outdoors wearing polarized sunglasses.
  • Rugged:  Pebble is a great smartwatch for first responders because it’s rugged and water resistant.

We’re excited about the Pebble Time, and the benefits it will have for first responders.
