CommandWear

CommandWear has three components.
- Commander: This is a web app that runs in a browser. The Commander app gives an overview of all Communicator locations on a map. It allows the Commander (hence the name) to send commands to individuals. The Commander also has a Review mode where previous events can be replayed.
- Communicator: This app is used by first responders in the field. It is loaded onto their smartphone (Android only today, iOS in February). The Communicator app tracks first responders, messages to them and allows them to upload pictures and video.
- CommandWear Pebble and Apple Watch Apps: CommandWear has introduced a Pebble and Apple Watch companion app to Communicator that allows “heads up, hands free” operation.

Installing Communicator
The first step to installing CommandWear is to set up your smartphone for use. CommandWear Communicator runs on Android devices that have Android 4.4.4 or later installed on them.
The CommandWear Communicator app is available here at the Google Play Store, or you can search for “commandwear” on Google Play on your android device. Once you have found the app, select it to move to the next screen.
Once you have opened the Communicator app on the Play Store, select the Install button. Communicator requires access to your location, photos and network capabilities.
Once you have accepted these, the app will download. Once it’s downloaded select the Open button.
Configuring Communicator
Communicator is designed to be very simple to install and operate. When the app is opened for the first time, you will be asked to enter your login id. This should be supplied to you by your admin. It is an email address and password. Login is not case sensitive.
Once you have entered your password and successfully logged in you will be taken to the messages screen. If your login is successful you will see your status as “You are logged in as …”.
Verifying Communicator is Connected
Once you have configured your Communicator and it is running, it is time to verify that it is running. Login in to Commander using your credentials (different from your Communicator login). Once you login you will see your userid on the top right hand side of the screen. Click on the user (1B12 in this case) and send them a command. You should receive a command on your phone.
Pebble Smartwatch
The Communicator app works with a Pebble smartwatch. If you have a Pebble smartwatch (www.getpebble.com) then you can follow these instructions to configure your Pebble smartwatch to work with your android smartphone.
Pebble has a great page with all the details. Once you have configured your pebble smartwatch to work with your phone, come back here to get instructions to download the CommandWear Pebble app.
